XTable Privacy Policy
XTable processes user-selected webpage content locally in the browser to create an editable table and export it as CSV or XLSX. XTable does not transmit selected content, browsing activity, previews, or exported files to the developer or third parties.
XTable Web Data Exporter ("XTable", "the extension", "we", "us", or "our") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users select tabular or repeated content from the webpage they are viewing, review and correct the structured data locally, and export the result as a CSV or XLSX file.
This Privacy Policy explains what data XTable handles, why it is handled, how it is protected, and the choices available to users.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the XTable Web Data Exporter Chrome extension. It does not govern the privacy practices of websites that users visit or the way users subsequently store, use, or share files exported by XTable.
2. Data XTable handles
XTable handles website content only after the user explicitly clicks the extension, starts the selection workflow, and selects a record on the current webpage.
Depending on the webpage and the user's selection, the content processed by XTable may include:
- visible text contained in the selected table or repeated records;
- table headings, labels, links, and cell values;
- the DOM structure required to identify related rows and columns;
- the current webpage title, used as an editable default dataset title;
- additional records loaded through standard next-page pagination when the user explicitly configures and starts collection.
Webpage content may incidentally contain personal, financial, health, business, or other sensitive information. XTable does not seek out or classify such information. Users should only select and export content they are authorized to access and process.
XTable does not intentionally collect account passwords, authentication credentials, browser cookies, complete browsing history, content from other tabs, analytics identifiers, advertising identifiers, or device fingerprints.
3. How XTable uses website content
Selected content is used solely to identify related records, infer columns and headings, display an editable local preview, apply user corrections and column choices, collect user-requested standard pagination, and generate the requested CSV or XLSX file.
XTable does not use selected content for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, surveillance, or purposes unrelated to its table-review-and-export functionality.
4. Local processing and data transmission
All selected website content is processed locally within the user's browser. XTable does not transmit website content, browsing activity, preview data, or exported files to us or any third party.
The current version has no developer-operated backend, user account, cloud synchronization, analytics, telemetry, advertising SDK, remote script, or remotely hosted executable code. Its code and assets are packaged locally with the extension.
5. Data storage and retention
XTable keeps selected and structured data only in the current webpage's browser memory for the active session. It does not store working data in a developer-controlled database or server.
Closing the preview, closing or reloading the webpage, or ending the relevant browser session removes the in-memory state. Exported files are saved by Chrome at the user's request and are controlled by the user.
6. Data sharing, transfer, and sale
XTable does not sell, rent, share, or transfer user data or selected website content. It does not use data for personalized advertising, sell data to brokers, use data for creditworthiness or lending, allow humans to read selected content, or combine it with data from other services.
7. Chrome permissions
activeTab
Provides temporary access to the active ordinary webpage only after the user clicks XTable. It does not provide persistent access to every website and is not used to read other tabs.
scripting
Allows XTable to inject its packaged local selection scripts and styles into the active ordinary webpage after an explicit user action. XTable does not download or execute remote code.
XTable cannot run on restricted Chrome pages, including chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or the New Tab page.
8. Security
XTable reduces risk through local processing, no external data transmission, no remote code, and user-triggered active-tab access. No software can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect exported files according to their sensitivity.
9. User choices and control
Users control when XTable is activated, what is selected, which columns are included, whether additional pages are collected, and whether a file is exported. Users can stop processing by closing the preview or webpage and can prevent future use by disabling or uninstalling XTable. There is no server-side copy for us to access, correct, or delete.
10. Children's privacy
XTable is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through XTable, and selected content is not transmitted to us.
11. Third-party websites
XTable does not control websites selected by users. Users remain subject to each website's terms, access controls, privacy practices, copyright rules, and legal requirements. XTable does not grant permission to process content the user is not authorized to access.
12. Chrome Web Store Limited Use compliance
XTable's use of information obtained through Chrome extension permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only for the extension's single user-facing table selection, review, and export functionality.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
If XTable's data practices change, we will update this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures before releasing the changed version. Where required, material changes will also be disclosed within the extension. The date above indicates the latest revision.
